Bimini Twist

The Bimini Twist is without doubt the best way to form a double. A double is used to attach a shock leader via another knot or by loop-to-loop (twisted leader). You should practice and get this knot perfect as this is one of the most commonly used knots in GT popping and jigging.

Other Notes

  • 70 turns are recommended when tying the Bimini Twist. Yes, we are aware that other people have done tests and recommend 12, 30 or 50 twists etc. We are convinced from our own testing and fishing that 70 is the best.
  • When forming the twists back up the original twists made, do it slow and make sure the tag is 100% square to the mainline.
  • Always double check and test the knot when finished! Using gloves give the knots some forceful yanks to stimulate some shock load.
  • Apply adequate lubrication when forming the knot.
