Chase GTs on the Great Barrier Reef with Blackout Charters
I am often asked what is a good destination in Australia to chase GTs on a
budget. The answer is with Kerry Bailey of Blackout Sportfishing charters in Cairns.
Don't be fooled by the budget part, Kerry offers years of experience and
knowledge and an overall great setup, the difference is that he doesn't charge
you an arm and a leg to do it!
Kerry can sole charter up to 3 people on his
Badjcraft Custom centre console with a 115hp 4 stroke Suzuki on the back. This
will allow you to get out to the reefs quickly and in comfort while providing
the ideal platform to lob forearm size poppers onto the reef.
Kerry is the first person to call if I want to target GTs up in Cairns and surrounds. There are plenty of GTs up to 30kg around to
consistently give your gear a work out, but don't be fooled, there are
definitely 40 - 60kg fish lurking around to strike when least expected!
