Eastern Indonesia Nov 2011
December 18, 2011, 04:07:18 PM
Hi All,

Thought i would post a few pictures of a recent trip to the eastern part of the Archipeligo. Had a very enjoyable trip with a great group, good variety, some good fish, a lot of laughs and good memories. Jon please feel free to add more pictures as my collection is limited.

I did promise to comment on the new EP82/38 rod, of course it is a beautiful rod which casts long, nice and forgiving to fight with and more parabolic than the CV79/40. It works small chuggers quite well and also stick baits from 100gm to 140gm quite nicely.

Cheers
Andy

Good stuff Andy..... I was waiting for a report of that trip to find it's way here :).  The Banda Sea is still so underfished.

I am looking into chartering the same boat next October/November time.

Was the Doggie caught on top water?

The 140 cm fish is an absolute beast - very well done.

Thanks men, the far east is alot different to komodo and Alor, more distance needs to be covered and hence you need a boat like the MV Gabrielle to do it on, but it is set up ok. The simple fact here is you got be away from larger settlements to do any good.

Mark, i have been trying to catch up on work since the trip and finally found the time to post, i hope Jon can follow up with some more pictures, we even came across a pod of sperm whales and got quite close to one!!

Doggie on top water quite shallow reef actually popped the cherry on the EP82/38.

Jay the avatar GT is my best fish to date, very happy with it, not super thick but long and was a very good fight.

Ai, thats right, I was using a gamma with a single hook on the back at that stage, less than optimal for the lure action actually but had it solidly hooked. That fish did not go nuts until it saw the boat then it really bent the rod and me, unfortunately the video missed that part. And yep most of my gt's are caught on the CV79/40 these days. ;)

Nice report - I did a trip with Verdi early that month and had a blast (although I understand you guys had more success).

Seeing Verdi hand it to a 35kg + fish was a sight to behold :D

Hi Graham...

That time we got a lot of fun also by baby doggies with light jigging, almost 2-3 hours non stop frenzy... :o
